What methods does Austen use to tell the story in Pride and Prejudice Chapter 43?

Jane Austen has begun section 43 utilizing a telling technique in a third individual account to disclose to us the onlooker of the tale of what we as perusers need to know, this is compelling as Austen is portraying the setting and the even that will happen later on in the part. The perspective in this part of Pride and Prejudice is omniscient; as story is told through Elizabeth, yet as a third individual. This section is a defining moment of this novel as Elizabeth is beginning to changer her perspectives on Mr. Darcy as Austen says â€Å"there was surely right now, in Elizabeth's psyche, a progressively delicate sensation towards the original†. Elizabeth begins to change her emotions she had for Mr. Darcy subsequent to hearing Mrs. Reynolds acclaim such a great amount about him depicting him as â€Å"sweet tempered† and â€Å"generous hearted†. Besides, centralization is utilized all through this part constantly as Elizabeth's perspective is being described; in spite of the fact that Austen talks she describes it through Elizabeth's addresses and perspectives. In this part when Elizabeth travels to Pemberley, Austen tells the peruser that her â€Å"spirits go into a high flutter† when she sees a sight of it, this show the peruser she had a smidgen of fervor in her that she will be seeing Mr. Darcy. As in the past section when Elizabeth turns down his proposition she currently out of nowhere has an idea that â€Å"to be the courtesan of Pemberley may be something† this shows the perusers that Elizabeth perspective towards Darcy is beginning to change gradually where as in the past parts she could never have thought of this thought, Austen demonstrated the perusers utilizing a hinting technique in the past sections that Elizabeth later on in the novel sooner or later will change her sentiments toward Darcy regardless of whether she doesn't totally like him. As Elizabeth and her auntie, uncle are crashing into the Pemberley Park, Austen utilizes a great deal of illustrative language to draw in the perusers by catching their consideration. Despite the fact that she had a great deal in her psyche, she despite everything appreciated each subsequent she saw while crashing into the recreation center as Austen utilizing the telling technique advises the perusers that â€Å"Elizabeth was charmed. She had never observed a spot for which nature had accomplished more, or when normal magnificence had been so little neutralized by an unbalanced taste.† its idea was supplemented by workmanship, for example, by the fake finishing. Here Jane Austen communicates the excellence of the grounds as â€Å"a excellent wood† and â€Å"a huge attractive stone building†. This consequently affects Elizabeth's perspectives. In spite of the fact that she was energized she despite everything didn't anticipate meeting its proprietor as Austen uti lizing an indicating technique illuminates the perusers about Elizabeth's emotions. In this section Austen additionally utilizes complexity of the two stops that Elizabeth considered such to be Lady Catherine's at Rosings which may be contrasted and Mr. Darcy as Austen says through Elizabeth's perspective â€Å"The rooms were grand and handsome† and â€Å"Elizabeth saw, with appreciation of his taste that is was neither ostentatious nor pointlessly fine, with less of wonder, and all the more genuine class, than the furniture of Rosings† differentiate is powerful in this part show the Austen portraying the distinction between two elements. The house and grounds of Darcy mirror his character and tastes. For a second Elizabeth understands that she has a lament that she dismissed Darcy's proposition as she says â€Å"This was a fortunate memory †it had spared her from something like regret†. Austen has yet given the perusers another proof that Elizabeth's perspectives were changing toward Darcy. As Mrs. Reynolds depicts Darcy's character to Elizabeth, she understands that is totally unique in relation to what she had seen as Mrs. Reynolds says â€Å"I don't know is adequate for his great temper†. When Mrs. Reynolds asks Elizabeth whether she thinks Darcy is attractive, she becomes flushed and says â€Å"Yes, very handsome† Austen through indicating technique shows the perusers that Elizabeth was reddening when Mrs. Reynolds posed her an inquiry about Darcy as she says â€Å"Elizabeth coloured† through third individual account, this is viable on the grounds that the perusers get the chance to see the diagram of Elizabeth's inclination evolving gradually. At the point when Mrs. Reynolds portray Darcy as â€Å"sweet tempered† Elizabeth with stun addresses herself saying â€Å"Can this be Mr. Darcy?† as se couldn't trust her ears, her firmest assessment of Mr. Darcy was a remarkable inverse one, and now she is just hearing acceptable about him. Elizabeth turns out to be very anxious to hear a greater amount of Mr. Darcy as Austen educates the perusers that her emotions are evolving. Austen has likewise utilized distinctive decision of accentuation as E lizabeth discourse utilizes shout imprint to show her solid emotions. Elizabeth currently has understood that Mr. Darcy used to grin at her when their eyes met as Austen's illuminates the perusers â€Å"as she made sure to have at some point seen, when he took a gander at her†, she utilized sensational incongruity in Elizabeth's discourse in section 6 when Elizabeth and charlotte talk about Jane as Elizabeth reveals to Charlotte that Mr. Bingley is dolt not to find Jane's friendship where as she was nearly depicting her circumstance since she likewise passed up Darcy's love as she presently acknowledges it. Elizabeth likewise questions herself causing herself to accept that â€Å"what acclaim is more important than a recognition of a shrewd servant?† Austen tells the perusers that her perspectives on Darcy are being changed a great deal as she is currently beginning to address herself of why she had such a great amount of preference toward him through an indicating strategy, additionally the utilization of shout mark demonstrating her sol id sentiments. When Darcy comes and converses with Elizabeth, Austen through telling strategy illuminates the perusers that she was beginning to show friendship toward him by being bashful and becoming flushed which is an image of affection. She additionally began to think about what may have thought about her when they were talking while in the past section she didn't indiscreet about his emotions as Austen says â€Å"whether he had felt more torment or joy seeing her†. She is extremely astounded to see that Darcy changed his habits for the good of she as she tells Mrs. Gardiner â€Å"it can't be for me, it can't be for the good of I that his habits are in this way softened† Austen has utilized italic on close to home pronouns to underscore Elizabeth's sentiments and perspectives as she is shocked to see Darcy changing his character for a woman who didn't entice him when he saw her. At the point when Darcy requests that Elizabeth's consent be acquainted with his sister which is Miss Darcy, she feels regarded as Austen through enlightening technique illuminates the perusers concerning this as she says â€Å"but she was complimented and pleased† she was so glad to hear such a supplement from Mr. Darcy as it was of the most noteworthy kind. Elizabeth feels regretful for having bias towards Mr. Darcy anyway she doesn't utter a word as she remains very about that subject. Darcy has won her love and Elizabeth has dropped her off-base perspectives that she had additionally about him as Darcy addressed her with â€Å"perfect civility† and with â€Å"civil enquiries†, she feels amazed by Darcy's changed conduct only for her. Pride and Prejudice is a novel where Jane Austen has utilized a few strategies concerning the feeling of spot to make a fine novel of peculiarities, confusions, and anarchy. Austen's decision of word moved Elizabeth's emotions towards Darcy such that whatever he did and said to her she respected it. Through an exchange of Mrs. Reynolds and Elizabeth's auntie and uncle, Austen acquaints Darcy's genuine attributes with the perusers. There is likewise utilization of obsolete language in this part for instance when Austen utilizes the term â€Å"adieu† and â€Å"vexation† to show the perusers the timeframe it was set in just as needing us to see the part of life.

I didnt remain with Modern Curriculum Press, yet for Kindergarten, this was my preferred book. Biggest Industries Ripe for Disruption

Biggest Industries Ripe for Disruption The strategies have changed â€" competition has become more fierce and competitors are bringing their A game to the table. It is time to shake things up and disrupt the industry to become the leader in it. © Shutterstock.com | LightspringIn this article, you will learn about 1) the basics on disruption, 2) how to recognize whether an industry is ripe for disruption, 3) 15 ways to disrupt an industry, and 4) what industries look like they are ripe for disruption.INTRODUCTION TO DISRUPTIONDisruption is the process of breaking down the status quo; it is about changing the rules of the game and completely deviating from the way things are normally done. Disruption allows the company applying it, to take charge of the industry through radical changes. This change can be brought in the business strategy, through technology or through the introduction of a radical new product/service, thus allowing the introducer or the change initiator to become the market leader. When you are operating in an industry that has become stagnant, you feel like there is no way forward, and you cannot capture more market even if you become more efficient at how you are doing things, then it is time to play the dis ruption card. You can crush your competitors by introducing a new product/service, for example, creating a new niche in the existing industry, allowing you to leap ahead of the competition. You can implement a new technology that allows you to cut down costs by a huge margin, expanding your profit margin and allowing you to grow quickly to reap the benefits of large-scale production.Either way, disruption can help you destroy the old and bring a refreshing change that helps you take the lead, making your competitors sweat! These slides will show you some bigger trends driving disruption in many industries.[slideshare id=46950559doc=nodslideshare-150413144357-conversion-gate01w=640h=330]HOW TO RECOGNIZE WHETHER INDUSTRY IS RIPE FOR DISRUPTION?If you are a small start-up, the best way to increase your chances of success are to enter an industry, which is ripe for disruption. Entering such an industry with a new strategy or a new offering for customers is a good way for getting noticed by them. In a stagnant industry, bringing in a change would be refreshing for the customers and they would be more than willing to accept you and do business with you.1. Examine the MarketLook closely, closer than before. You will not always find an obvious problem in an industry that points it out to be the one ready for disruption. In order to identify this, you have to look closer to identify problems that are smaller but critical. These problems are more subtle in nature and have been gone unnoticed because customers and companies both have accepted these problems as a norm.Companies are not pushed to solve these problems; they have become complacent due to past successes. Since they are already successful in their operations, they feel that there is no need to change. Such an industry would qualify as a good target for disruption. Moreover, by doing what they have always been doing, the companies reach a point where they begin to lose their connection with the customers. Assumin g that the customers are also happy with how things are, they stop listening to them. Complacent companies in this way fall victim to a critical behavioral problem â€" they begin losing touch with their customers. In reality though, the customers do desire a change and it is you who needs to make use of this opportunity.By looking closely, you can identify whether the existing companies in an industry have become complacent and have lost touch with their customers. If you recognize the unresolved issues of such an industry and resolve them, you would delight the customers, break the status quo, and leave the competitors behind. If the industry leaders have become a little too overconfident with their position and are not taking new entrants seriously, it may just be the industry for you to disrupt and enter. Since industry leaders will not be worried about you, a new entrant, they may not make an effort to ruin your start-up, giving you a perfect opportunity to plant your foundation s and strengthen your start-up. Before they know it, it will be too late for them and you would have captured a big chunk of their market.Another way to recognize whether an industry is ripe for disruption upon examination is if the companies are following an obsolete business model. Due to the rapid change in technology, a business model can become obsolete quicker than before. This opens up an opportunity for you to enter the industry with a newer, more refined business model and create a storm in the industry.Look through the Eyes of the CustomerThe best way to understand a situation from another person’ point of view is to step in their shoes â€" this is how disruption works too. Look at the industry from the viewpoint of a customer, not the company. This vision will bring a whole new perspective and help you identify opportunities for disruption.Using the existing products and/or services as a customer will let you experience the industry as a user. Use your imagination and o bservation skills to identify issues and/or opportunities for improvement and that will be your basis for disrupting the industry.2. Never Underestimate PayoffsThe thinking that big payoffs require a major investment may hold you back or make you think that a particular industry is not feasible for you to disrupt or that you strategy may not be successful in disrupting. However, that may not be the case. You may be able to earn big by making a minor adjustment in any aspect. Do not think that a small change will bring small payoffs â€" if the small change makes a big impact, your payoffs are going to be huge too.For example, let us say that you want to start a new online food delivery outlet by utilizing a new route that you have identified which will enable you to reach the customers quicker than your competitors. This change does not require a huge investment on your part but if the delivery time really matters to your customers, you can capture a huge market with your strategy an d earn significant payoffs.3. Don’t Take Assumptions for GrantedAs time passes on, there are beliefs and assumptions established in an industry that the current companies do not question. If you want to disrupt the industry, you have to question these assumptions and not accept them â€" that is from where the change will begin.Do not assume that the rules cannot be changed because if that was true, the concept of disruption would not exist. Do not just assume that the customers will not like the change you are about to introduce.4. Trim the FatAs industries get old, they accumulate a lot of fluff. This fluff comprises of elements or add-ons to products and services that the customers no longer value, but are charged for. For example, fancy office décor adds to the company’s cost of production, which is translated in the price of products/services they offer. However, the office décor may not really be of importance to the customers. By changing this aspect, you may be able to disrupt an industry, cut your costs and takeover the competition by offering customers what they actually value and thus are willing to pay for readily!5. A Real Life Example of Formula OneAlmost everyone knows what Formula One is all about, even those who may not watch it regularly. Formula One shows the above-mentioned signs of being an industry that may be ripe for disruption.Take for example the continued success of Formula One over the history. This success has made Formula One complacent, as it continues to have car manufacturers spending big bucks developing Formula One cars. A good number of F1 teams have made good money from the success of Formula One and so have the people in the management. However, when you look deeper inside, do you realize that there is a big decline in the number of people who watch Formula One live? This is because Formula One has lost touch with its customers â€" the fans of Formula One. They have been so focused on managing media deals since TV view ing has been bringing in a major chunk of revenues for Formula One, they have ignored the fact that the race stands are almost empty.Recently, Formula E has entered the car racing industry. Formula One is not paying them much attention, disregarding them as a competitor. Lastly, if you look at the business model of Formula One, it is based on getting TV deals. But can it rely on it in the coming future considering that the media will become increasingly fragmented in the future? Also, bear in mind that in future, marketing will become highly personalized and customized â€" something, which is opposite to F1’s current strategy.HOW TO DISRUPT AN INDUSTRY: 15 WAYS FOR A POWERFUL SHAKEUPAre you tired of the inertia in your industry? Is the inertia in any other industry bothering you to the point where you are ready to shake things up? Disruption is one of the wisest ways to launch your own start-up and ensure its chances of success. Here are 15 ways to disrupt an industry:#1 Make Shor tcutsBy reducing the channel between product/service production and delivery to customer, you can make it easier for customers to access the product or service. This is called making shortcuts. It allows you to make it convenient for the customers to utilize the product/service.#2 Challenge the Existing BoundariesWho is to say that the current way of service/product delivery cannot be changed? Challenge the limitations and find out a radical way to go around the roadblocks to bring a change in the industry. For example, Uber Taxi is available through a mobile application. Users simply use the app to request for a taxi, which reaches them within minutes. Before their launch, did we think it was possible?#3 Dramatically Reduce ComplexityEver found yourself wanting to place an order online but it takes you weeks to finally place that order? Is it because the website is overly complicated and you are always procrastinating to place the order because of it? How would you feel if a much l esser complicated website was launched? Of course, you would love it! So you can disrupt an industry by making the product/service less complicated.#4 Removal of an Important Element of the Product/ServiceRedesigning an existing product/service in a way that you take away a seemingly important element is a great way for catching the attention of customers. You must however, provide an alternative to the element so that the product/service’s workability does not get affected.#5 Be Brave Enough to go DigitalIf not for Kindle, could you have imagined an alternative way for reading books? If not for eBay, would you have thought of a different way to auction things off without having a yard sale? It is the era of technology. If an industry has still not gone online, you can be the one to disrupt it by taking it online!#6 Slash Down Prices or Introduce the Freemium ConceptMaking international calls once was an expensive affair â€" until Skype was launched and it became much easier and a ffordable for everyone to stay in touch with their close-ones abroad. So is there a way you can disrupt the industry by cutting down the prices significantly or even offering customers a product/service for free?#7 Learn from Other Innovative IndustriesGet inspired from other industries and learn which of their elements you can incorporate in your industry, the industry you want to disrupt. For example, you can analyze the TV industry to see how they bring innovation in their screens. You can use this analysis to redesign the screens of mobiles.#8 Develop a Closed EcosystemCreate a new closed ecosystem within the industry through a radical change, thus winning customer loyalty for your business. Consider Google; they have a very strong following and users of Google rarely rely on or use any other search engine. You can create this closed ecosystem with suppliers or vendors as well, getting good bargains and in return supplying the same product/service at significantly lower costs th an your competitor.#9 Seek Out New Target GroupsFast food was enjoyed by adults until McDonalds introduced the Happy Meal and KFC Chicky Meal. There are similar companies who have tweaked the traditional offering and targeted a new segment of customers, thus disrupting the industry.#10 Do the OppositeWhen the cell phone industry started producing smaller cellphones, Samsung with its Note Phone came up with a design with a bigger screen. iPhone’s newer versions including the iPhone 6 also has a bigger screen as compared to the iPhone 4. Doing the opposite of the trend is a great way to disrupt an industry.#11 Combining Different Types of InnovationsThere are different types of innovations including technological, service, product and business model innovation. You can combine a mix of these innovations and disrupt an industry on multiple fronts.#12 Do the ImpossibleDid you ever think it was possible to build a rotating hotel or a bridge underwater? Well both of them now exist in th is world. Remember nothing is impossible and doing something, which was thought to be impossible, will definitely disrupt an industry.#13 Look for New Business ModelsPut your thinking cap on and come up with a new business model to implement in the industry. A new business model can change the processes involved and lead to decreased cost of production and/or increased quality of output and/or ease of delivery, amongst numerous other things.#14 DowngradeIn an attempt to renovate, change and re-invent, sometimes the basics of a product/service are covered up, so much that the essence of the product/service gets lost. For example, in an attempt of creating a complete experience at salons and beauty parlors, so much stress is laid on creating the perfect environment that the quality of haircut may get compromised. Rather than enhancing the ambiance, how about you focus on giving a top quality haircut instead?#15 Sharing is the New BuyingYou can collaborate with a company in the same in dustry or a company in another industry to come up with something new that can disrupt an industry. For example, you may collaborate or share resources with a web development company to come up with a business of providing baby sitters and child minders online.THE COMPANIES THAT ARE NOT DUE FOR A SHAKEUP ANYTIME SOONThere are some companies that keep things in their industries on a roll, thus reducing the chances of having someone disrupt the industry. Here are examples of such companies:Apple: Keeps reinventing its products using technology innovation, product redesign, etc. It keeps its customers on the toes, waiting anxiously for a newer model. They look forward to new model launches and continue discussing the updates for months!Netflix: Netflix is the perfect example of a service concept, which allows the company to stay in-tune with its customers, always! It is TV on demand and it always provides what its customers request! Also, Netflix is TV on demand conveniently! It offers its customers to make use of their internet connection to watch whatever they want.Uber: Uber taxi is providing customers with convenient transportation through the use of technology. It is dependent on a modern business model and uses technology that the customers are comfortable using, that is, their cellphones!TransferWise: TransferWise is a company that has come up with a concept of providing customers with money exchange services at a greater convenience and lesser cost. It has disrupted the traditional banking services industry and has created a strong place for itself. The owner of TransferWise is determined to remain on toes and keep bringing changes in order to continue capturing the market.SO WHO ELSE IS UP FOR DISRUPTIONAirlines have been exploiting customers with low quality services and high fare rates for quite long, not to mention the flight delays and lost baggage. The problem is that airlines have become complacent with their processes and since not everyone owns a private jet, customers will have to keep tolerating mediocre services for high fares, until someone comes and disrupt this industry.Another example of an industry ripe for disruption is the cell phone carrier industry. The cell phone carriers keep enticing customers with low cost, better quality packages but these packages come with a hidden cost. If you calculate, these packages actually make you pay extra for services you never consume. This can be broken by a cell phone carrier that offers low-cost services while providing more value. The credit card processing industry is another one ripe for disruption. This is because credit card companies have the monopoly of charging fees on credit card transactions. They charge the merchants fees for processing credit card transactions, which is why at many shops you do not get either the facility or have to make a minimum purchase of a predetermined amount in order to avail the credit card payment facility.Financial service providing indus try is an industry ripe for disruption and already targeted by Fintech companies. This is because most of the customers availing the services of this industry lack the technical knowledge, thus allowing brokers, banks, financial consultants, and investment advisors to charge exorbitantly for their services.Other industries that are ripe for disruption include the wine, cyber security, education, and the Government Politics industry.CONCLUSIONThis is an era where complacency can get you in to trouble. Even if you are a leader in your industry, your leadership is not guaranteed since there are hungry competitors and new entrants eyeing the industry. Any weakness can become an opportunity for them to disrupt the industry and shake things up.Only those companies that keep innovating and re-inventing themselves, stay in-tune with the customers’ requirements and keep offering them something of value at lower costs, are in a position to remain safe from being disrupted!

Ethical Implications Of Slut Shaming - 1523 Words

Taylor Durand Slut Shaming Introduction To the Term â€Å"I mean did you see what Rachel wore to the party last night? Total slut.† â€Å"Don’t you worry about adding too many notches to your belt?† â€Å"How many people have you slept with really?† â€Å"You’re definitely getting into trashy territory Rachel.† Many times I have heard variations of these quotations being said throughout my life. The real trash is policing someone’s sexuality. Slut is a derogatory term used to degrade women’s sexuality. In this text I will outline the problems and the harm that slut shaming bestows on women and their sexuality. Slut shaming is detrimental to women’s psychological morale, her political standings, and her role and power in society and relationships. In order to better understand slut shaming, an explanation as to why it is a phenomenon in today’s society needs to be given. One of my biggest concerns is the fluid usage of the word slut or whore. This phenomenon of slut shaming is mostly seen with teenagers and young adults and thus this is the group I will be focusing on. Young women and men seem to define a â€Å"slut† differently. Women define a slut as 1. A woman who is sexually active, 2. A woman who wears a lot of makeup, 3. A woman who dresses suggestively, 4. A woman who, despite her unpopularity, tries to get the attention of boys, 5. A woman who is assumed to be sexually advanced because her body is more developed, 6. A woman who flirts with other girl’s boyfriends or has a lot of guy friends.

Pro Death Penalty Speech Essay Example

Pro Death Penalty Speech Paper Verna Stafford first lured the family driving in their car, pretending to be a stranded motorist. She first shot Melvin Lorenz when he failed to turn over all his money. His wife, Linda Lorenz, was shot by Roger and Harold when she came running to help her husband. With both of them still alive, the trio again pounded their bodies with bullets, then kidnapped their only son of 12 years, Richard. In utter terror, the young boy attempted to yell out for help out of the moving cars window. Roger became enraged and without any feeling of sympathy for the young ay stuck a gun through the window and shot the boy. Still alive, Richard Lorenz was driven about a mile, removed from the camper and shot again. These Inhumane and senseless killings deserve nothing less than a death sentence and that is exactly what was awarded to Roger. I believe the death penalty should be implemented for heinous crimes such as cold-blooded murder. I will first present some history regarding the death penalty in the united States Approximately 7900 persons have been sentenced to death and 1184 executed from 1976-2009. An average of 0. 2% of those were executed every year during that time. Ninety-eight murderers were executed in 1998, a record number for the modern death penalty. This represented 1. 8% of those on death row. The average time on death row for those 98 executed 11 years, 2 months an all time record of longevity. There are currently 35 states that implement the death penalty today versus fifteen that do not. Forty five percent of death row inmates are white and forty two percent are African American. A recent gallop poll taken states the public opinion for the death penalty Is 65%. This includes the Innocent children who are In many cases robbed of a loving parent or parents at the hands of evil murderers. The victims families are experiencing severe grief and stress because of the irreparable loss of their family member. The subject of the death penalty will arise when there is loss of human life, particularly the way In which the precious human life Is eliminated. To see or know that a heinous killer Is allowed to go free or even spend life In prison seems Like the killer Is eating away with murder. We all have a choice to do right or wrong. If we do wrong, we deserve to be punished. These killers have no regard for how precious life is so Tell tenet Tithe snouts De treated ten same. Sees Killers nave eroded ten velvet AT living their life to the fullest and punish the victims families as well. How many murder victims would have grown up to be doctors, scientists, or even President? We will never know. Many victims families cannot go back and live their normal lives without the feeling that the monster who killed their loved one is living a normal life, even if it is behind the bars. It is also not humanely or morally correct to let a gruesome killer free. The death penalty will give the family the feeling that the killer or killers of their loved ones has also been punished. In addition, the death penalty should not be abolished because while their victims are in the grave, the murderer will continue to enjoy his/her constitutional rights. He/she will organize campaigns in favor of him/her and thereby create a situation in which they will appear as if they are the ones who have been wronged. Some are allowed to publish books while Irving life sentences in prison. Many of these murderers brag about their sick crimes and some have even sent letters from prison to the victims families boasting how they enjoyed killing their loved one in gruesome detail. The family is forced to relive the crime again and again. The animals who committed a heinous crime of murder should not escape with lesser punishments and it is only logical to award him/her death penalty. Professor van den Hag, a psychoanalyst and adjunct professor at New York University had this to say l hold life sacred, L feel that anyone who takes some ones life should know that thereby he forsakes his own (CTD. In providentially. Com) If these killers are given life sentences or in some cases lesser Jail sentences, these animals could be set free to kill again. They are a danger to society as studies have shown that 10% of people convicted of murder will indeed murder again. The victims families and witnesses that may have testified in court live in fear of retaliation from the free murderer. Some prisoners who are serving life sentences for murder have even escaped from prison. For example, Michael Rodriguez, sentenced only to life sentence for heinous murder, Joined six other criminals in overpowering prison employees in Connelly, Texas in 2001. They all left the prison in a maintenance truck. After robbing a convenience store, Rodriguez shot a police officer 11 times and drove over his corpse. This incident clearly shows that people who have committed gruesome murders could escape the clutches of law, committing more killings of innocent people. So, I believe that the death penalty, because of its finality, is a more apt punishment than imprisonment for gruesome criminals. Former Attorney General of Indiana states,Sparing the lives of even a few prospective victims by deterring their would be murderers, is more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers. We should weigh the death of convicted murderer against the senseless loss of life from their victims. A second key factor that proves that the death penalty should remain is that the death penalty could surely deter other prospective murderers, making them think twice before committing crime. Although, crimes could be carried out in the heat of he moment, there will be many instances in which the prospective murderer will think or plan about the murder. While thinking or planning, if the prospective murderer Just slightly thanks tout ten tenant penalty Ana Its serious Ana relocating effect on his/hers life as well as their families lives, they could stop their murder plans. The individual deterrent effect is proven by many, perhaps thousands, of individual. There are fully documented cases where criminals have admitted that the death penalty was the specific threat which deterred them and/or others from committing murder. Indeed, one study showed that criminals, by a 5:1 ratio, believed that capital punishment was a significant enough deterrent to prevent them and/or others from committing murder. Indeed, prisoners rate the death penalty as a much more severe penalty than they do life without parole. While it is difficult to prove a negative, I. E. How many murders does the death penalty cause not to occur? , there is absolute evidence that the individual deterrent effect of executions saves innocent lives. Thus, I am for the opinion that the death penalty should not be abolished because he future of the innocent victims, who could be our brothers, parents, sisters, and children, needs to be protected against the evil murderers that exist in our world today. The death penalty helps the victims families receive closure from the nightmare the murderer has caused them as well as help deter criminals from committing murder for fear that there own lives will be in Jeopardy. Even one life that is saved from a murderer that is executed is reason enough to continue the death penalty as you cant put a price on innocent human life and it should be cherished. We can all help by standing our ground as the voice of the innocent lives that cannot speak for themselves.

Retention requires a competitive salary and great benefits. However, retention of your best requires a whole lot more. Employee involvement, recognition, advancement, development and pay based on performance just get you started in your quest to retain your best. An employee retention program boosts the bottom line and improves customer Satisfaction. Employers know only too well the tightening effect that continued growth has had on the labor market. Human resources publications constantly are regaling employers with tales of employers competing for scarce employees using techniques like allowing employees to bring their pets to work or hosting job fairs for convicts. Losing key employees is more than an inconvenience. Employee retention problems cost your organization money and time when you have to find and train replacements. In addition, a low employee retention rate drags down employee morale, hampers long-range planning and negatively impacts customer opinion. If a company cant keep its best employees, then it gains a reputation as a bad place to work and a company others dont want to do business with. Business owners need to put an employee retention plan in place to keep and recruit top employees. Although money plays a part in retention of employees, you might be surprised to learn that its not the most important factor in employee retention. 1. Clear communication of job requirements and performance expectations. 2. Efficient use of your employees skills and talents. 3. Appropriate training and supervision. 4. Opportunities for employees to learn new skills and advance in the company. 5. Consistent rewards and recognition for employee performance. 8 A few methods to reduce labor turnover are as follows: 1. Improve factory –working conditions 2. Handle workers grievances faithfully. 3. Don’t abuse or fire workers for petty matters. 4. Try to minimize fluctuations in the work. 5. Give appropriate wages and incentives to the workers. 6. Take care of employees’ health and welfare. 7. Adopt safety and good house keeping practices. 8. Motivate the employees and try to light up their morale. 9. Be impartial in the matters of promotion and Transfers. 2. 1. 1 EMPLOYEE RETENTION MEANING: Employee retention involves taking measures to encourage employees to remain in the organization for the maximum period of time. Corporate is facing a lot problem in employee retention these days. Hiring knowledgeable people for the job is essential for an employer. But retention is even more important than hiring. There is no dearth of opportunities for talented person. There are many organizations which are looking for such employees. If a person is not satisfied by the job he’s doing, he may switch over to some other more suitable job. In today’s environment it becomes very important for organizations to retain their employee. 2. 1. 2 DEFINITION: Employee retention is a process in which the employees are encouraged to remain with the organization for the maximum period of time or until the completion of the project. Employee retention is beneficial for the organization as well as the employee. 9 2. 2. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Khatri, Budhwar and Fern. (2001) indicated that there is dearth of research studies examining employee turnover in Asian and developing countries contexts where this problem has given sleepless nights to HR managers and they put emphasis on the need to carry out research in Asian countries contexts. They further reported that there are very few research studies examining the issue of turnover in Asian context and such investigations have used a limited number of variables with small samples, thus this raises concerns of model specification and generalization. In a more recent article Baruch Budhwar (2006) repeated the call to widen perspectives of turnover research beyond the boundaries of western cultures. Khawaja et al. (2005) used descriptive qualitative research design based on 45 Interviews from registered nurses in Tertiary Care University Hospital, Pakistan Concluded that under-stressed, frustrated and demoralized nurses leave. They further point out that turnover problem is common in all parts of the world including developing countries; however, it has not been examined in Pakistan’s context. A study conducted by Khawaja and Nansey (1999) indicated that nursing turnover from1996 to 1999 has remained above 30%. 10 2. 3 COMPANY PROFILE The Salem District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited is a replica of the District Milk Union in Gujarat state based on the famed â€Å"AMUL† system. Definition and Examples of a Grammatical Category

Definition and Examples of a Grammatical Category A grammatical category is a class of units (such as noun and verb) or features (such as number and case) that share a common set of characteristics. They are the building blocks of language, allowing us to communicate with one another. There are no hard and fast rules for what defines these shared traits, however, making it difficult for linguists to agree on precisely what is and is not a grammatical category. As the linguist and author R.L. Trask put it, the term category in linguistics is so varied that no general definition is possible; in practice, a category is simply any class of related grammatical objects which someone wants to consider. That said, there are some strategies you can use to group words into categories based on how they function in the English language (think of parts of speech). Identifying Grammar Groups One of the simplest ways to create grammatical categories is by grouping words together based on their class. Classes are word sets that display the same formal properties, such as inflection or verb tense. Put another way, grammatical categories can be defined as sets of words with similar meanings (called semantics). There are two families of classes, lexical and functional. Nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and adjectives fall into this class. Determiners, particles, prepositions, and other words denoting position or spatial relationships are part of the functional class. Using this definition, you can create grammatical categories like this:   Verbs denote actions (go, destroy, buy, eat,  etc.)Nouns denote entities (car, cat, hill, John,  etc.)Adjectives  denote states (ill, happy, rich,  etc.)Adverbs  denote manner (badly, slowly, painfully, cynically,  etc.)Prepositions  denote location (under, over, outside, in, on,  etc.) Grammar groups can be further divided, depending on a words defining properties. Nouns, for instance, can be further subdivided into  number,  gender,  case, and  countability. Verbs can be  subdivided  by tense,  aspect, or  voice. Grammar Tips Unless youre a linguist, you probably wont spend much time thinking about how words can be classified based on how they function in the English language. But just about anyone can identify basic parts of speech. Be careful, though. Some words have multiple functions, such watch, which can function as both a verb (Watch out over there!) and a noun (My watch is broken.). Other words, such as gerunds, may appear to be one part of speech (a verb) and yet function differently (as a noun). In these cases, youll need to pay close attention to the context in which such words are used in writing or speech. Sources David Crystal,  A Dictionary of Linguistics and Phonetics, 4th ed. CJUS 310-DB4 Replies - Essay Example Further, you point out that mentors help adolescents perform certain tasks and as such, give them the direction they should adopt in life. While I do not disagree entirely with this argument, mentors play bigger roles in influencing the careers that the adolescents take. Some of the parents hire mentors to help their children perform certain tasks such as cooking and washing, among others. However, other mentors seek to influence positively the life of adolescents by providing them with information and knowledge on career choices, issues affecting them and how to overcome such challenges. Adolescents thus find it easy to confine in these individuals rather than other people. In your argument, you point out the various roles played by mentors in the society. According to your argument, â€Å"mentoring is a way to prevent delinquency.† While this is true, I seek to differ in that not only do mentorship reduce delinquency, but also play a big role in developing responsible adults in the society. It is inadequate classifying mentorship as only trying to prevent delinquency. Although adolescents face a myriad of issues, the reality is that some of them find ways of overcoming these challenges, and as such, are not victims of delinquency. Nevertheless, these require mentorship on how to mentor their peers and help them adopt safe lifestyles. Expecting for this, I agree with the argument that mentors have responsibilities. All mentors should be role models for the children in whichever capacity they serve. Subsequently, they should assume work that perfectly corresponds with their credentials. While some could be relatively educated and have relative jo bs, they could demonstrate the advantages of humbleness and the need for having plans in

There is possibility of development of a state water plan while it is established whether development of the Mounds Lake Reservoir is avoidable or unavoidable for being a public necessity. The Role of Nature Essay -- Nature Poetry Poet natural Essays

The Role of Nature Introduction Considering the history of literature, the conception of Nature seems to be a quite complex question. 'Nature' is not a concept that can be grasped easily and it often requires discussing some great philosophical conceptions like 'Pantheism' or 'Deism'. However, my paper will not deal in detail with such vast enquiries. I rather want to focus more accurately on how 'Nature' is used by Pope and Coleridge, respectively. With other words, I would like to analyse the function of the concept of 'Nature'. The fact is, that even if these poets do not exhaustively characterise ‘Nature’ itself, they employ it in a lot of different analogies and metaphors to articulate and embody for example ideas about 'morality' (Pope) or the intimate 'self' (Coleridge). My argument would be to show that in both cases, nature has a sort of epistemological function. The apprehension of nature, its perception or its examination leads to knowledge of something that is not directly obvious; one can name it God or the divine. Thus, to mention of nature is a kind of disclosure that guides us to be aware of some reality that is meta-physical. As a matter of fact, the ways Nature is described by Pope and by Coleridge are very different: Pope uses a sort of analogical technique, whereas Coleridge exploits the more suggestive power of metaphors. That point shows that, even though Nature has the same overall function, that is reveal something that is beyond the mere material world, the way it can and should be perceived is not the same. I would like to argue that Coleridge considers a sort of intuitive faculty, whereas Pope thinks that a reasonable examination of Nature unveils the divine order of the universe. The present analysis will spotlight Pope’s Essay On Man and Coleridge’s Rime of an Ancient Mariner. First, I want to show that Coleridge and Pope advocate a pantheistic and a deistic conception of Nature, respectively. This should be the general framework through which I will try to show some other differences. Then, in a second time, the use of a concept like â€Å"reason† will be analysed in regard to Pope’s Essay on Man. This step shows that even if Pope is a writer of the Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, he deeply condemns the arrogance that results of a pretentious use of reason. In fact, reason should therefore be seen as an important but... ...enis. S.T. Coleridge. Poà ¨me de l’expà ©rience vive. Grenoble: Ellug, 1992. Boulger, James D. ed. Sonnet 116

Sonnet 116 is about love in its most ideal form. It is praising the glories of lovers who have come to each other freely, and enter into a relationship based on trust and understanding. The first four lines reveal the poet's pleasure in love that is constant and strong, and will not â€Å"alter when it alteration finds. † The following lines proclaim that true love is indeed an â€Å"ever-fix'd mark† which will survive any crisis. In lines 7-8, the poet claims that we may be able to measure love to some degree, but this does not mean we fully understand it.Love's actual worth cannot be known – it remains a mystery. The remaining lines of the third quatrain (9-12), reaffirm the perfect nature of love that is unshakeable throughout time and remains so â€Å"ev'n to the edge of doom†, or death. In the final couplet, the poet declares that, if he is mistaken about the constant, unmovable nature of perfect love, then he must take back all his writings on love, truth, and faith. Moreover, he adds that, if he has in fact judged love inappropriately, no man has ever really loved, in the ideal sense that the poet professes. The details of Sonnet 116 are best described by Tucker Brooke in his acclaimed edition of Shakespeare's poems: [In Sonnet 116] the chief pause in sense is after the twelfth line. Seventy-five per cent of the words are monosyllables; only three contain more syllables than two; none belong in any degree to the vocabulary of ‘poetic' diction. There is nothing recondite, exotic, or metaphysical in the thought. There are three run-on lines, one pair of double-endings.There is nothing to remark about the rhyming except the happy blending of open and closed vowels, and of liquids, nasals, and stops; nothing to say about the harmony except to point out how the fluttering accents in the quatrains give place in the couplet to the emphatic march of the almost unrelieved iambic feet. In short, the poet has employed one hundred an d ten of the simplest words in the language and the two simplest rhyme-schemes to produce a poem which has about it no strangeness whatever except the strangeness of perfection. Chapter 3 The British Atlantic World - 1657 Words

Chapter 3: The British Atlantic World, 1660 - 1750 In June 1744, the Iroquois and representatives from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania met in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to resolve conflicts and negotiate on agreements. These meetings were called the Covenant Chain. At Lancaster, British colonists forced the Iroquois to agree to land agreements, and they also forced the Iroquois to assist them in a war against the French, to which the Iroquois, like Onondaga orator Canassatego, were forced to say yes. Similar to the French and Spanish colonies, the British allied with Native Americans to gain power in North America. Meanwhile, many Native American groups grouped together in what the British called â€Å"tribes† in order to counter population decline and have some political power. The colonies were mostly autonomous and part of the South Atlantic System, which brought them economic growth. Colonies to Empire, 1660 - 1713 England governed its colonies loosely before 1660, but after 1660, when the monarch was brought back, England tried to reinforce order in the colonies and allied with Native Americans to fight against other European countries. The Restoration Colonies and Imperial Expansion Charles II (reigned 1660 - 1685) helped to grow English power in the Americas and Asia through marriages, alliances, and land grants, essentially taking over land that other nations had once owned. This phenomenon has been described in many different ways, such as slave trade, forced migration and genocide. When people today think of slavery, many envision the form in which it existed in the United States before the American Civil War (1861-1865): one racially identifiable group owning and exploiting another. However, in other parts of the world, slavery has taken many different forms. In Africa, many societies recognized
